This weekend I watched the 2013 remake of Total Recall on Netflix.

I am not known for my movie knowledge. I’m never the person that is aware of the latest trailers and what the best new releases to go watch are. Instead I’m usually the person that see’s some bargain bin DVD case and thinks, "They made a movie about that?"

So it really didn’t mean very much to me a few weeks ago when I was looking for a movie on Netflix to kill some time and the original Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger was at the top of my suggestions list. Of course, I watched it. I’m a big fan of many of the old sci fi movies. They were cheezy to the max, and I liked it.

This weekend, I again wanted to watch a movie to kill a bit of time. Flicking through the newly added titles on Netflix I find the 2013 remake of Arny’s original. This makes sense now. Netflix does add lots of old material but I imagine that they carefully choose even old material based on whatever is hip and happening right now. So when Netflix gets the 2013 Total Recall remake it makes sense that they’d also make an effort to make the original available.

Don’t ask about the actors or anything like that, I don’t know them. That said, I did like the remake quite a bit. I found the original a bit tough to follow at some points and the future tech in the original is not as well thought out as the remake. I’d give the remake a 7/10, would watch again.
