To me music is equivalent to water or breathing. It is a fundamental need that I, for one, are unable to live without.

I’ve always got my ear out, listening for new and interesting music. My collection has grown fairly impressive but there’s still a novelty when you discover somebody you haven’t heard of before.

Over the years various apps have come out to aid with discovery of music. Either they have been shut down for copyright reasons or are actively blocking access for Canadians. Grooveshark is one of the recent ones that has been shuttered due to legal problems. (Why do people have to be so frustrating?)

Today, I felt a little bored with the music selection on my phone today so I did a quick search for free streaming sites. Low and behold was the top suggestion.

At this point in time I can’t say a lot in review of Jango because I’ve only been listening to it for about an hour or so.

What I do like is that they have a pandora like interface where you give an artist you like and the site will play similar music. I think this results in better playlists than sites that just have genre based stations and no control over what plays.

Maybe I’ll do a more in depth review of later, after I’ve had more time to use the system.
