Okay, I gave up on Caps Lock altogether.

For the few rare times that I might want to write a sentence in all caps there are alternatives to Caps Lock. For instance I could just type it all lower case, highlight in vim’s visual mode and press ~ to swap the case.

At any rate, leaving the CTRL key to behave like Caps Lock was really getting in my way. So I did some more xmodmap searching online and came up with this other solution:

! Make Capslock another CTRL key
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
remove Control = Control_L
keysym Caps_Lock = Control_L
add Lock = Caps_Lock
add Control = Control_L

Whelp, there you go. That seems to make me more productive even with the short time I’ve had to train my muscle memory.

Until next time…
