Adjusting to a New Norm
Every once in a while life throws a curveball your way. When it does, it is up to you to catch the pass, run the field in a breakaway, score yourself a hat-trick and bowl a strike.
Also, I’m not a sports person…
Recently for me, the curveball that I am trying to catch is the next step in employment for my career. In otherwords, I was laid off, am now unemployed and am starting a job search for the first time in nearly 8 years.
I have a whole list of things that I should/need to do to help my job search be successful and I’m slowly working through them. I seem to be flip flopping between a mood of distinct stress and worry about my future and cautious optimism that this might still turn out for the best.
Beyond the typical job search tasks though I have a number of personal projects that I wish to progress on as I feel they improve the strength of my portfolio. I won’t talk about those in this post since I plan to have more detailed announcements in the upcoming days and weeks as I improve on and get ready to publicize the various projects. In addition to my own personal programming projects I want/need to start working on a third party open source project. I have been thinking about trying to help out with either the Awesome WM project or with some other Wayland focussed window manager.
So on one hand I have lots of neat possibilities in front of me now, on the other hand I have some work to do in order to make the best of this situation.
